Free Movies Jan. 26 Reminder

Spread the word to anyone you know in East Point

The GOPLobby has declared 2006 the year of Pot Pride. It will be conducting activities through the year designed to show people that they have no reason to be embarrassed by who they are and what they do. We will keep you notified of these events, and hope that you will help us spread the word.

Of course, an equally important cause is ensuring that we are all as educated and informed as we can be. The first event in the year of Pot Pride is “Zombies and Cops at the Starry Night,” a free night of films and fun at the Starry Night Theater in East Point on Thursday, Jan. 26. Join the GOP Lobby and acclaimed zombie filmmaker Parker Davidson (no, he’s not a zombie - he makes films about them) to watch two of his marvelous flicks - "Sometimes" and the zombie spectacular "Still" - as well as “Busted: A Citizen’s Guide to Police Encounters.”

In any given police encounter, with a few notable exceptions, a basic knowledge of the Constitution will help protect peoples’ civil rights and improve their chances of driving or walking away safely. Narrated by retired ACLU director Ira Glasser, “Busted” realistically depicts the pressure and confusion of common police encounters. In an entertaining and revealing manner, “Busted” illustrates the right and wrong ways to handle different police encounters and pays special attention to demonstrating how viewers can courteously and confidently refuse police searches. "Busted" was produced by Flex Your Rights, not Parker, and features no zombies.

“Busted” can be your best friend when it comes to staying out of jail. While we can’t say that Parker’s films will keep zombies from eating your brains, they will entertain and delight you. So join us Thursday, January 26 at 8 pm, and we’ll make sure you have a fun and informative time demonstrating Pot Pride.
